History
The City Walk was formed in 2001. The organization's founders all lived or worked in Rochester. We saw the incredible potential the area offered and wanted to do something to make our home even better. Instead of complaining about what Rochester lacked (as we heard all too often), we decided to take action and do something about it. We wanted to make Rochester the best place it could be by tapping into our greatest resource: the energy and enthusiasm of Rochester's people.

What Is Social Capital?
The City Walk defines it as the advantage created by a person's involvement in a structure of relationships and how people gain more success through their enhanced connections to other people. As the amount of human interaction increases, personal bridging and bonding behavior increases, and people are more likely to help one another. They tend to become more involved in their community, less likely to leave the area, thereby improving themselves, society, and the local economy.
